El’s Prediction for BREEDERS’ CUP CLASSIC November 2, 2013

November 2, 2013 Santa Anita Race 12, 30th Running of The Breeders’ Cup CLASSIC – Grade I, contested on the dirt, at 1 1/4 miles, with a Purse of $5 million.

RESULTS: Mucho Macho Man beat the field after Ron the Greek scratched!

See El’s Prediction Below:

Last year’s Breeders’ Cup Classic winner, Fort Larned is back to defend his title.  Fort Larned took last year’s Breeders’ Cup Classic wire to wire with a Beyer rating of 117.  Can he successfully repeat this win?  His 115 Beyer rating in the recent Foster seems to indicate that he may be coming in good form for this race.  With his regular rider Hernandez in the irons, Fort Larned is likely to take the lead and run the race wire to wire.  Of course, there is another front runner in Game on Dude.  Game on Dude is a front runner as well and coming from the 9 hole will have to contend with Fort Larned.  Game on Dude did not run in last year’s Breeders’ Cup, but is a giant force to be reckoned with, having won 5 out of 5 this year for a total purse earnings of nearly $2.5 million.  Game on Dude is trained by no other than Bob Baffert.  Game on Dude will most likely go off as THE favorite.  However, we believe that Fort Larned may have a slight edge coming from the 7 hole.   If these two dual for the lead and the fractions are fast, then the closer Mucho Macho Man may very well beat both.  With Hall of Famer jockey Gary Stevens on Mucho Macho Man in the 6 hole, we expect Mucho Macho Man to draft Fort Larned and Game on Dude, passing both going into the stretch.  If we believe that a closer is going to win the race, then Ron the Greek with Lezcano on board and coming from the 11 hole may very well beat them all in the end.  We are going to “gamble” that, that will be the case, so the expected order of finish will be:

1)  Ron the Greek, 2)  Mucho Macho Man, 3) Game on Dude, 4)  Fort Larned, 5)  Palice Malice, 6) Will Take Charge, 7) Declaration of War, 8) Paynter, 9)  Planteur, 10) Flat Out, 11) Last Gunfighter, 12)  Moreno
