Bet-with-El RECAP Saturday April 6, 2013

We went to Aqueduct, Race 12, for our weekly Bet with El this time.  The race was a 1 mile on the dirt $12,500 claimer, non-winners of 3 for4 years old and up with a purse of $24,000.  The weather was clear and the track was rated as fast.

We picked the #6 horse, Pleasant Prince to WIN.  Pleasant Prince went off as the favorite at odds of 1.60.   Pleasant Prince was in the #6 hole and coming out of the gate got knocked sideways by the #7 horse, Greeley’s Law, who was pushed around by the #8 horse, Elusive Story, who lunged inwards.  Unfortunately, Pleasant Prince could not overcome this heavy bumping at the start.  He was 8th at the 3/4 pole and 6th coming into the stretch.  He finished a gallant 4th, missing the board by one.

We had picked the #5 horse, Diamond District, and the #11 horse, Willy Pay, as the two horses to wheel with Pleasant Prince top and bottom in an Exacta.  Willy Pay came in 2nd and paid $7.60 and $4.90 for the place and show.

With all the bumping at the start, the race was set up for a long shot to come in first.  As it was, the #7 horse, Greeley’s Law, won the race.  Greeley’s Law went off at  odds of 28.75.  He returned $59.50, $21.80, and $12.80 for the win, place, and show respectively.
