Bet-with-El RECAP Saturday 8 February 2014

Here is the RECAP for February 8, 2014 for Bet-with-El.

This week we went to Calder Race Course, Race 5, a 7 furlongs Maiden Special Weight race, run on the dirt for three year olds with a Purse of $23,800. The weather was clear and the track was rated as fast.

We picked the #4 Horse, Donegal Hall to Win. Donegal Hall was forwardly placed and was 1st at the 1/4 pole and 2nd at the 1/2 pole. Donegal Hall wore a hood and blinkers and faltered when entering the stretch 3rd, sandwiched in between 2 horses. Donegal Hall apparently had nothing left in tank since jockey did not encourage the horse to stay up with front runners and just galloped him out to finish 6th. Donegal Hall went off as the favorite at odds of 0.80 and finished out of the money.
The #2 Horse, Trini Boss, entered the stretch first by 1/2 length and was just able to hold on to that lead, winning the race by a neck. Trini boss went off at odds of 4.0 and returned $10.20, $6.40, and $4.60 for the win, place, and show respectively. The #5 Horse, Red Pom Pom, who we chose for an exacta, went off at odds of 5.10 never fired and finished behind Donegal Hall, taking the 7 spot.
