Bet-with-El RECAP Saturday 6 September 2014

This week we went to Delaware Park, Race 7, a 5 1/2 furlongs $25,000 Claimer race, run on the dirt for 3 years old and up with a Purse of $23,000.  The weather was clear and the track was rated as fast.
We picked the #4 Horse, How Convenient, over the most likely favorite, #1, Guan Typhoon.  Guan Typhoon was scratched by his trainer as was the #2 Horse, Dighton, reducing the field to only 4 horses with no show wagering.
How Convenient generally runs wire to wire, but with only 4 horses in the race he came out of the gate 3rd and was 3rd by 5 lengths at the 3/8 pole.  However, he was much the class in this race and made up ground, entering the stretch 1st ahead of the other 3 horses by 1/2 length.  He finished strong and as predicted finished IN THE MONEY, taking the win easily by 3 1/2 lengths.
How Convenient went off at odds of 1.10 and returned $4.20 for the win and $2.10 for the place wager.  As predicted, the #1 Horse went off as the favorite at odds of 0.80 and returned $2.20 for the place.
