Bet-with-El RECAP Saturday 5 July 2014

This week we went to Belmont Park, Race 9, The Belmont Oaks Invitational, a G1 race, run on the turf at 1 1/4 mile distance for 3 year old fillies, with a Purse of $1,000,000.  The weather was clear and the turf track was rated as good.
We picked the #2 Horse, Room Service to WIN.  Room Service went off as the favorite at odds of  2.60.  Room Service came out of the gate in her usual slow style and trailed the field much of the race.  We expected her to start picking up the pace and making up ground entering the stretch to close strongly. Unfortunately, Room Service, being a finicky filly, did not fire today and finished out of the money.
We suggested wheeling Room Service on top and bottom in an “ALL” exacta.  Since Room Service finished out of the money, any exacta with Room Service were declared “dead”.
The #9 Horse, Minorette took the win, staying close to the pace and taking the win by a convincing 2 lengths.  Minorette went off at odds of 6.30 and returned $14.60, $6.30, and $5.50 for the win, place, and show respectively.
We expected the #11 Horse, Sea Queen trained by Christophe Clement to hit the board.  As predicted Sea Queen hit the board coming in 2nd and returning $9.60 and $6.80 for the place and show.  Christophe Clement being the king of the turf took the show spot as well with the #4 Horse, Summer Solo, who went off at odds of 33.75 and returned $11.60 for the show.
