Bet-with-El RECAP Saturday 4 October 2014

This week we went to Indiana Grand Racecourse, Race 9, the Indiana Oaks, a G2 stakes race for 3 year old fillies, contested at 1 1/16 mile on the dirt, with a Purse of $200,000.  The weather was cloudy and the track was rated as fast.
We picked the #9 Horse, Miss Besilu to win.  Unfortunately, she bobbed at the start and had a bad start from which she did not recover.  Miss Besilu went off at odds of 5.60 and finished out of the money, finishing 5th in a field of 11.

We selected the #10 Horse, Unbridled Forever to come in 2nd. Unbridled Forever came out of the gate 6th and entered the stretch 1st.  She was not able to hold on to her lead when Tizwindy (#8) showed a strong closing kick and overtook Unbridled Forever to take the win by 2 3/4 lengths.  Unbridled Forever had to settle for the place spot.

We slected the #2 Horse, Penwith to come in 3rd.  Penwith could not maintain her front running style in this route race.  She had a good start coming out of the gate and was 1st at the 3/4 pole, but had to give up that lead coming into the stretch 3rd.  She had to settle for the show spot.

The winner Tizwindy won the race by 2 3/4 lengths.   Tizwindy went off at odds of 3.90 and returned $9.80, $4.20, and $3.00 for the win, place, and show respectively.  Unbridled Forever went off as the favorite at odds of 2.10 and returned $3.40 for the place and $2.80 for the show.  Penwith went off at odds of 3.80 and returned $3.40 for the show.
