Bet-with-El RECAP Saturday 23 November 2013

We went to Gulfstream Park, Race 2,  5 1/2 furlongs on the dirt optional $25,000 claimer for fillies and mares 3 years old and up,  non-winners of 1 with a purse of $33,500.  The weather was cloudy and the track was rated as fast.

We picked the #4 Horse, Chippette to WIN; this being a sprint race and Chippette being a front runner.  As expected Chippette came out of the gate 2nd and entered the stretch first.  Unfortunately she got nipped at the wire by the #5 Horse, Silver Sashay, and lost the win by a nose, having to settle for the place spot.

Nevertheless Chippette finished IN THE MONEY at odds of 5.30.  Chippette returned $6.20 for the place and $4.60 for the show.  We figured that #3 horse, Corail, would not take the win, this being her first race after a long layoff.  Corail went off as the favorite at odds of 0.70. Corail came out of the gate 6th and never fired.  She finished 5th, 20 lengths behind the winner, Silver Sashay.

Silver Sashay was a long shot and went off at odds of 15.60.  Her win returned $33.20, $13.00, and $7.00 for the win, place, and show respectively.
