Bet-with-El RECAP Saturday 20 September 2014

This week we went to Suffolk Downs, Race 5, a mile and 70 yards $5,000 Claimer dirt race for three years old and up with a Purse of $11,000.  The weather was clear and the track was rated as fast.

We picked the #6 Horse, Here We Go Joe to WIN as this horse had the highest probability of finishing in the money having hit the board 7 out of 8 times this year alone and staying at the same class level.  Here We Go Joe went off as the second favorite at odds of 2.30.  Here We Go again came out of the gate 4th and it was clear that he was not up to the task today.  He quickly lost ground and seemed tired at the quarter pole.  He drifted out and went 5 wide into the stretch entering the stretch fifth by 10 1/2 lengths.   He was clearly not himself today and finished out of the money in fifth place.
The #3 Horse, Dontbothermenow, who we had picked 2nd and who we thought might steal the win, did so indeed.  Dontbothermenow entered the stretch 1st ahead by 3 1/2 lengths and was full of run.  Dontbothermenow finished ahead of the rest of the field to take the win by an impressive 9 lengths.  Dontbothermenow went off as the favorite at odds of 1.90 and returned $5.80, $4.00, and $3.00 for the win, place, and show respectively.  Dontbothermenow got claimed out of the race and is going to new owner and trainer Arther Duffy, Jr.
