Bet-with-El RECAP Saturday 18 January 2014

Here is the RECAP for January 18, 2014 for Bet-with-El.

This week we went to Golden Gate Fields, Race 1, a 6 furlongs race, run on the dirt, maiden special weight for 3 year olds with a Purse of $26,000. The weather was clear and the track was rated as fast.

We picked the #6 Horse, Mebossman to win. Mebossman went off at odds of 5.40. Mebossman was in the 6 hole and had a slow start coming out of the gate last. Mebossman entered the stretch 6th going 5 wide, but was in the clear to pass the rest of the field However Mebossmand never fired. Jockey Enriquez took him to the inside in mid stretch, losing a couple of lengths by cutting across and unfortunately he had to settle for last place, finishing out of the money.

With Mebossman finishing out of the money, our exacta box with the #7 horse, is moot.

The #5 Horse, Candy Passion, went off at odds of 4.50. I have mentioned in previous videos to stay away from maiden races with first time starters, because of the unpredictability. Candy Passion was a first time starter and I should have followed my own advice.. Candy Passion set the pace and ran wire to wire to win the race by a length on his first time out. Candy Passion returned $11.00, $5.60, and $7.40 for the win, place, and show respectively. Candy Passion is by Candy Ride, who stands stud at Lane’s End for $35,000. Candy Passion earned $15,600 for his win. The race was run in 1.11.11, which was not super fast, but Candy Ride earned an Equibase rating of 83, which is very good for the first time out. We can expect to see him in an allowance or stakes race next.
