Bet-with-El RECAP Breeders’ Cup Classic 1 November 2014

This week we went to Santa Anita, Race 12, The Breeders’ Cup Classic, a G1 stakes race contested at 1 1/4 miles on the dirt for 3 years old and up with a Purse of $5,000,000.  The weather was cloudy and the track was rated as fast.
We picked the #9 horse, Toast of New York to win.  Toast of New York had a good start, coming out of the gate 2nd from the 9 hole, and drafting behind the front runner, Bayern (#7).  Toast of New York entered the stretch 2nd behind by only a length.  Toast of New York closed on the front-runner and almost made up the length.  Unfortunately, the finish line came too fast and Toast of New York had to settle for the place spot, still finishing IN THE MONEY, but loosing by a nose.  Toast of New York went off at odds of 18.40 and returned $18.00 for the place and $10.80 for the show.
The front runner, Bayern (#7), ran the race wire-to-wire.  Bayern bumped into Shared Belief (#6) coming out of the gate, which caused a stewards inquiry.  After a lengthy review, the stewards let the finish stand and Bayern took the contraversial win at odds of 6.10, giving trainer Bob Baffert his first Breeders’ Cup Classic win.  Bayern returned $14.20, $8.00, and $5.20 for the win, place, and show respectively.
Our Bet with El wagering strategy recommended an exacta box of Toast of New York, Shared Belief, Tonalist, and Bayern (9/6/11/7).  For those that took our recommendation, the $2 exacta returned a nice $249.80.
