Race Description: Gulfstream Park, Race 4, $25,000 Optional Claimer for three year olds and up, which have started for a claiming price of $16,000 or less, contested at 1 mile on the turf, with a Purse of $31,000.

El’s Analysis;

Conquest Sandman (#3) – This 5 year old gelding by Scat Daddy raced 5 times and hit the board 4 times, winning 4 times, for a purse earnings of $100,671 and a high Beyer rating of 93 this year. He earned the 93 Beyer rating on 17 February in a $60,000 stakes race run at 1 1/16 mile distance on the turf at Gulfstream, running wire-to-wire with jockey Lezcano J on board. He ran a $62,000 optional claimer race on 24 March and won that race running wire-to-wire with jockey Zayat E J, who has a 10% win rate, in the irons. Conquest Sandman is being trained by Abarrion Juan Carlos P, who has a 12% win rate. This horse is dropping in class and is going slightly shorter in distance, while staying on the turf. With jockey Zayat back in the irons, we expect this horse to take the lead and run the race wire-to-wire to take the win.

Class and Cash (#8) – This 6 year old gelding by Exchange Rate has not raced this year. However, he raced 8 times, hitting the board 6 times, winning 5 times and placing once for a purse earnings of $116,220 and a high Beyer rating of 100 last year. Glass and Cash ran up in Laurel Park and Monmouth Park last year in a $50,000 optional claimer and a $100,000 stakes race. His last race came on 9 November 2017 at Gulfstream Park, in a $25,000 allowance, where he finished 4th with an 80 Beyer rating.   He was freshened up after that race and returned to the work tab on 7 March of this year.   He shows 5 official works with 2 bullet works at the 5 furlongs distance. He is being trained by Cibelli Jane, who has a 21% win rate and will have a change of jockeys in Jaramillo E, who has a 17% win rate. We expect this horse to stay close to the pace if not take the lead.   Not having raced for a while, we are going to give him a race before we put him in the win column.

Global Entry (#5) – This 5 year old horse by Flower Alley ran 4 times, hitting the board 4 time, winning once, placing twice, and showing once, for a purse earnings of $42,420 and a high Beyer rating of 90 this year.  He has been running at the $25,000 and $30,000 optional claimer class level at the 1 1/16 mile distance on the turf at Gulfstream Park.   He is being trained by Dibona Robert S, who has a 12% win rate and will have a change if jockeys in Gonzalez J J, who has a 0% win rate.   Global Entry shows one work on 6 April at the 4 furlongs distance and although this was not a bullet work, he did finish 3/28. This horse can run wire-to-wire or can come from off the pace. With the 2 front runners we have selected to be one and two, we expect Global Entry to stay close to the pace to finish on the board.

El’s order of finish:

  1. Conquest Sandman (#3)
  2. Class and Cash (#8)
